Michael Bailey has enjoyed diverse careers in Information Technology, Higher Education, and Aerospace. He loves working with technology to make a positive impact in peoples’ lives, adapting IT tools to satisfy needs. He has presented over 25 papers at technology conferences. His recent contributions center on bringing Self-Sovereign Identity and Digital Verifiable Credentials to the world, where he has been an early contributor to the Hyperledger Indy project. In 2017 and 2018 Dr. Bailey was the technical lead in the deployment of the largest and best known public Indy networks, the Sovrin MainNet and StagingNet. Among other things, Michael wrote and operated the scripts that generated the genesis transactions for these networks. Updated versions of these scripts continue to be used when deploying new Indy networks. Michael holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering, but has been most at home in Information Technology. He currently serves on the Sovrin Technical Advisory Board, and as co-chair of the ATARC Blockchain Project. At Paramount Software Solutions, he leads teams bringing forward identity-oriented blockchain solutions for customers.
